In the May-October months, farmers markets in metro Detroit open shop for the season. These locally grown (and run) markets let parents and kids eat healthy and shop close to home, while spending quality family time together, too.

Whether you’re browsing a market or harvesting produce at a community-supported agriculture (CSA) farm, these experiences can be much richer than hitting the grocery store. Not only do kids learn valuable lessons about buying local and eating healthier, they also get to interact with the growers themselves – and discover a few awesome lessons at a variety of special events and activities.
